Idaho State University Admissions
Idaho State University has an undergraduate admissions deadline of August 1 for the fall semester. The application fee is $40. Applications can be submitted on-line. Students who are enrolled in high school at the time of application will need to have their official final high school transcripts sent after graduation to the Admissions Office. Students who are interested in the College of Technology need to contact the Student Services Office.
As part of their application, students should submit high school transcripts and ACT or SAT test scores. Students should have completed with a 2.0 GPA state required high school courses as follows: 4 years of English (8 semesters), 3 years of mathematics, 2½ years (5 semesters) of history and social studies, 3 years of science, 1 year of fine arts, foreign languages, or humanities (foreign language strongly recommended), and 3 semesters of other college preparatory work. Some vocational education courses can satisfy part of this requirement. Admissions will be granted on the basis of a combination of test scores and GPA.
Transfer students and international students will have varying requirements depending upon their prior educational background. Students who graduated from Idaho high schools prior to 1989 will also have different requirements.
Students applying to the graduate programs at Idaho State University should consult the individual department and/or school to which they are applying. Applications can be submitted on-line, and the application fee is $35. General requirements include the GRE or other appropriate test scores (such as the GMAT) and a bachelor’s degree. The graduate application deadline is July 1 for the fall semester, but many programs have earlier deadlines.
Idaho State has extensive requirements for applicants’ completion of high school curriculum, including four years of English, three years of mathematics, three years of natural sciences, and two years of fine arts, among others. To qualify for admissions, applicants must have completed all of the required high school coursework with a grade point average of 2.0 or better. Once an application is received and reviewed, it is classified under one of two “levels” by the Admissions department, based on high school grade point average, ACT or SAT test scores, and class rank. Under Level 1, students are predicted to make a first semester grade point average under 2.00 and required to meet with an advisor regularly and not enroll in more than 13 credit hours. Under Level 2, students are predicted to make a first semester grade point average above 2.00, and students who enter at this level are not subject to credit hour loads but must meet with an academic advisor before registering for their major. Students who do not meet the minimal requirements may be considered under provisional admission if they are a high school graduate or possess a GED.
