    Idaho State University Athletics

    The Idaho State University Bengals compete in football, softball, volleyball, soccer, cross country, and men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, golf, tennis, and track. The Bengals compete in Division I of the NCAA, in the Big Sky Conference (Division I-AA in football). Athletic facilities at Idaho State include Reed Gym, the 3,000-seat arena that is home to basketball and volleyball; Holt Arena, which seats 12,000 for football; Davis Field for soccer and track; and a new cross country course north of Idaho State’s Research Park that is strictly dedicated to cross country racing and was the site of the 2002 Big Sky Championships in that sport. The Bengal athletes are also active in the community, supporting various philanthropic initiatives, offering scholarships, and even hosting community events like the annually Easter Egg Hunt in Holt Arena. For children, ISU offers the Bengal “Benny” Kids Club, a fan club to all children in the 8th grade or lower.

    Idaho State University is an NCAA Division I School. Teams compete in the Big Sky Conference. Men’s sports include basketball, cross country, golf, tennis, and track & field. Women’s sports include basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, and volleyball. The sports teams are supported by a spirit squad, which includes a dance team, cheerleaders, and a mascot, “Benny.” The team nick-name is the Bengals.

    Athletic facilities at Idaho State University include a recently remodeled gymnasium, a domed indoor football stadium (the first on an American college campus), a soccer field and outdoor track, and a cross country course.

    Student athletes receive academic support from the university in the form of a Student-Athlete advisory committee. Athletes participate in various community events, such as a community Easter egg hunt.

    One athletic tradition of ISU is an annual tailgate party, the Robert Allen Auto Group Bengalfest, which takes place at a park next to the stadium. In the past it has included appearances by other athletes and many activities for families.
